Tulip Growing Instructions
Our tulip bulbs have been prechilled for optimal performance. They are ready to plant and will grow well in many climates. If you having had good luck with tulips because you don’t get freezing weather in winter - these are the perfect tulips for you to grow!
When your bulbs arrive, all you need to do is plant them, pointy side up, about 6 inches deep. We plant our bulbs close together (like eggs in a crate) for maximum effect. Tulips (like all bulbs) want well drained soil. Soggy winter soils can lead to rot. If you have heavy clay soil that doesn’t drain well, you can plant your tulips in a raised bed or plant them in pots. Since they already have their cooling period, these tulip bulbs will happily grow in pots for you.
No fertilizer is needed. The bulb already has all the energy it needs to flower. If you want to keep your tulips to grow again next year, then you can add some bulb food to the top of the soil (sprinkle it) as the tulips emerge and that will feed the bulb for next year.
That’s it! You’re on your way to a beautiful spring garden!
